Getting ready for your first open house

moo logo

If you are getting ready to have your first open house in Santa Fe, chances are you’re not completely sure what to expect. Here are a couple of pointers to help you get ready for your open house, and have your home sell quickly!

Decrease the clutter. Pack away some of the appliances on your kitchen counter that you don’t use very often, or at all. Store unnecessary furniture in a storage unit. You can even pack up extra clothes or blankets that you may not need right now. It will make moving in the end easier – and your home will seem more inviting.

Clean. Be sure to vacuum, mop, wipe down counters, and even wash the windows. Potential buyers will be much more interested in your home if it looks inviting.

Take away personal items. Remove family photos from the walls, and take away the knick-knacks from the shelves. When people are at your home for either an open house or a private showing, they need to envision themselves living there.

Make it smell nice. Sounds strange, but be sure to shampoo your carpets, clean out the litter box, and even burn some incense or light a candle.

Perform small repairs. This is the perfect time to fix a leaky faucet, repair the small hole in the wall, and even replace burnt-out light bulbs.
